Xbox Video is the official app of Microsoft's movie streaming and rental service. It allows you to stream video content that you've rented or purchased, or download it to your Windows Phone device.
What does Xbox Video do?
Xbox Video is a handy companion to have on your phone. As well as allowing you to access content you've already purchased, the app lets you browse movies and TV shows before renting or purchasing them through your device.
Content in the Xbox Video app can be browsed by section or searched for directly. Movies and TV shows are categorized by New, Top, and Featured; although it's also possible to browse movies and shows by actor or director.
Where available, Xbox Video shows you information about a particular movie or TV show, including a description, cast information, and related content. You can also get ratings and reviews powered by Rotten Tomatoes.
Another good feature of the Xbox Video app is that it allows you to sync playback across devices. This means, for example, that you can start watching a series or movie at home on your Xbox then resume where you left off on the bus to work.
The user interface design of the Xbox Video app will present no problems to those familiar with Windows Phone. The tiled interface is comfortable to move around, and there are filters to help you narrow down your searches when looking through sections.
One thing that's lacking from the Xbox Video app interface is the ability to pin certain sections of movie or TV content to the Windows Phone home screen. It would also be great if the app could play video that you've captured and stored on your device.
Xbox Video is a well-built, simple-to-use app that gives you access to a wealth of movies and TV on your phone.
TV Shows are now added the day after they air. There are also plenty of new ways to get access content: movies and TV shows can be stream or downloaded, videos from your computer can be transferred and watched, and new blockbuster movies are available to rent. Movies and TV shows also have ratings and reviews.
